Shetland lace Smokering in pure wool-Giveaway December 2013

Destined to be a Lace smokering

Long dark days are ahead. winter is upon us. rejoice in all that is knitting.

The yarn has a beautiful soft handle to it so much so that it is of fine enough quality in texture & Luster to be either a smokering or beautiful flowing lace scarf.
I'm never without a scarf or smokering. A scarf really adds the finishing touches to your outfit all you have to do is colour coordinate & if you get it just right adds a little bit of pizazz to you & your clothes !
Now I'm not a white person. White on me makes me look Pasty ill, I'm more a Black person. I love rich dark colours, Moorit reds, browns & deep blues & solid Raven black etc. so if this smokering was going to be for me I would have to dye the yarn or dye the finished smokering to sooth my need for colour.

Voila.....here are the choices:

The dye really loves to soak into sheep wool. White sheep wool gives a true Brilliant vision of how absolutely wonderful colour can be.
From Left to Right: Turkey red, Hunter green, Mahogany, Copenhagen blue, Buttercup yellow Or Ocean Green. My personal favourite is the ocean green with its hint of colour variations
I can also do Black (not shown).
***Click on any picture to make them larger***

You get to choose. Will it be natural white as shown above or one of these rich colours ?
I will randomly draw out 2 winners each will receive a lace smokering knit in their choice of colour.

To enter simply tell us what would be your choice of colour

open to everyone world wide.

Runs from: 06 December TO 31st December 2013

  16. That is gorgeous! I'm slowly improving in my lace knitting, but it requires so much more attention that I'm used to giving my knitting :-) So I drool over lace, knowing how hard it would be for me to make! I think I would leave it white. Thanks for the chance :-)

I just love working with Natural wool. There is just something about it that makes me feel content, i would even say happy !
The nameless scarf/shawl consists of a stepped edge along the bottom in moss stitch, the top edge is straight with moss stitch, garter stitch, eyelets, cables, tubes, box stitch, stocking stitch....a mash up of textures that show up brilliantly in real wool. The earthy colours i'm using are white, fawn & Musket & all 100% Natural to the awesome coloured Shetland sheep.

Been a very busy Spring & Summer around here......Lots of lambs-96 in total alive & well. They are everywhere i look. Some days i have so much work i don't know what job to tackle first.....thank goodness  i have a very understanding husband who loves the Sheep just as much as i do. Not to mention a family who are now city folk but love to come to the country side for weekends away.....& don't mind singing for their supper ! Before long most of the lambs will be gone, they are all sold & my work schedule will be greatly reduced....roll on !

Managed to finish a few of my UFO's lately & I'm very happy they are complete so i can move onto my next ''knitting with purpose'' project, more about that in the next blog later in the year. Oh and my NEW OUT♥LANDER inspired yarns (90% Shetland wool-10% Qiviut-musk oxen) big 150 gram skeins, will be off the machines in only a few days.....more about that in a week or so.
