A combination of stitches & natural organic Shetland wool ♥ Something I'm working on, nowhere near finished as i want it to be at least 60'' inches long so please check back to see the finished scarf as it will help in naming the pattern design. (Read on for more info) I just love working with Natural wool. There is just something about it that makes me feel content, i would even say happy !  The nameless scarf/shawl consists of a stepped edge along the bottom in moss stitch, the top edge is straight with moss stitch, garter stitch, eyelets, cables, tubes, box stitch, stocking stitch....a mash up of textures that show up brilliantly in real wool. The earthy colours i'm using are white, fawn & Musket & all 100% Natural to the awesome coloured Shet...

                              The Fetlar Cabled Hat Happy New Year, a Happy Knitty New Year for 2016 REAL WOOL is So soft & squishy & has a massive amount of stretch to it.  I like to wear the cable design to the side. knit this sample hat from 100% Organic Shetland wool but the giveaway for this month with be a similar grey to this one but in our Shetland Tundra blend with 15% musk ox/qiviut-no pictures of the yarn as yet because its not even spun.....it's waiting for its turn on the machines. but i will update with picture's once I get the yarns plied. The pattern is circular knit on 4.5mm's. Knit with 2 strands of wool held together to make a sort of Aran weight knitting that i love. Not only is Aran knitting faster but it's so much warmer than a dk weight & so much more squishier when your knitting with REAL WOOL ! Cables & Wool......with Qiviut. Today is a cheeky day off work day, a 'last of the summer wine day.. ...watching summer wine DVD's all day while knitting cables. This show really relaxes me & I find i knit much faster with the old guy's playing away in the back ground getting up to their tricks. The Yorkshire Dales is a beautiful setting too & that has a lot to do with me watching the show, rolling hills, sheep grazing...lambs bleating. I know November is cable month but to me they can be knit any month of the year. 2016 I plan on knitting only Yummy Cables with my Shetland wool; big & Chunky cabled hats, cabled neck warmers, cabled sweaters, cabled leg warmers & possibly a shawl or two. This month its about colour.....beautiful Burnt Orange mixed with some natural Shetland wool yarn for contrast. To enter you need to vote for your favourite colour combination from the two choices here; Shetland Halo yarn in Burnt Orange, with Burnt orange Angora/Qiviut yarn & Natural Moorit.  The second choice is this: Yarns as above with a contrast yarn of Natural Black Shetland wool. I opted for the Moorit combination to knit my cowl. The Angora/qiviut yarn & Shetland wool were dyed in the same pot, see the difference in shade how grey qiviut & Grey Angora rabbit fibre produce a much darker shade than the natural grey shetland wool !                                Pure Shetland Wool Smokering ! Sorry for the delay announcing the yarn winner for the booties ( winner was Jennifer Thiele), been so busy & I'm finding it very difficult to keep up the blog entries due to my workload in the mill, the home & barns. Don't get a sit down till 8pm at night & by that time I'm pooped ! This month I have 2 of these up for grabs. The smokering is knit with worsted weight yarn, the one above is shown in Musket- I dont have any musket colour remaining but I do have Fawn, Black,  Light Grey & Shaela which are all equally lovely & soft.  All the knitting is done for you so you can gift it to a friend or keep it for yourself (I hope you will keep it for yourself )-though it will soon be Chrsitmas.... Shetland Wool Sampler Blanket. Been years since i knit a wool Throw & i thought its about time i knit another ! In the past i have knit throws from crappy acrylic, scratchy old sheep wool but the best were knit from soft Buffalo yarn or musk ox wool. Every throw has been gifted to friends or Family or sold as a custom knit order. Our kids grew-up wrapped in hand knit throws & to this day they still mention them from time to time.  I'm sure when this is finally finished there will be heated debate over who gets to keep it ! The Natural colours i have chosen to work with are  100% shetland in Musket colour(sample on needles shown above), 100% shetland yarn in light grey,  100% shetland in pureWhite ?,(Not sure about the white)  50% very black shetland blended with 50% grey angora rabbit, Shetland Tundra yarn in natural greyish brown with qiviut, 100% magical qiviut in 3ply ....all spun...

Feather and fan scarf with beaded closure Happy new year......another year gone already !   This months giveaway is for the yarn and beads to knit the scarf shown above. Easy feather and fan pattern, old shale stitch, Victorian lace stitch however you like to call it it is so lovely and this scarf has a beaded slide closure so the scarf can be knit shorter as there is no need to wrap it around your neck. Slip both ends of scarf into the tube and slide up to neck.    The yarn is a natural grey and from the softest grey fleece that i purchased on the internet.....its not very soft but i dont know what soft is anymore as i always have my hands in qiviut fiber and once you touch that nothing else can compare softness wise. I rubbed it against my neck and as far as sheep wool goes its not too scratchy ! it would have been much nicer if i had blended the batch with either qiviut or Angora but its too late now !     ...
